About

Hello!
I’m Clare Tradgett, an artist and nature lover living in Sydney. Born and raised in Whitley Bay, a small coastal town in North-East England, I’ve always been drawn to the sea.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Art in Leeds, I moved to Australia over a decade ago, and the stunning beaches here constantly inspire me.
My work reflects my love of nature, especially the ocean. It's the little details - like the shifting blues and greens, or how the sun sparkles on the water - that captivate me.

I work mainly with oil paint, creating colourful seascapes inspired by my travels around the world, and coastal scenes from local Sydney beaches. My style blends realism with a sense of expression, as I aim to portray not just the scene but the feeling it gave me in that moment. I love playing with abstract shapes and colours to add a sense of movement and emotion, but my favourite part is getting lost in those final, intricate details
I’m incredibly lucky to live close to some of Sydney’s most beautiful beaches and I draw endless inspiration from the ocean - waking up to watch sunrise at Coogee, Bondi or Bronte Beach is one of my favourite ways to start the day! I'm always on the move, and when I’m not in the studio, you'll probably catch me running up the coast, in the gym, cooking up something tasty, or enjoying a good wine and a yap with friends.
